Student Equipment List
|
Greetings, and welcome! I hope you are as excited about the upcoming year as we are. This equipment list and comments will help you to understand what gear and clothing to bring and what not to bring!
Carefully read this list, and stick
very closely to the it. Here is the
reason: you and each of your classmates has a private room that is very small but private. Because of its size, you will not have much space to store extra clothing, and over the years we have learned how to pare down the clothing needs here to fit both your needs and the space available.
This list is available in a printer-friendly form. Just click the button below, copy the text that appears in the new window, and paste it into a page of any word-processing application. Then print it and use it as a shopping and packing list.

Because we buy in large quantities we are able to negotiate the lowest possible price for the best possible equipment and clothing for our purposes. The total cost of items purchased on campus will not exceed $750 per student. (This is a significantly lower total than many parents have paid in the past buying student gear at home.)
Expedition equipment and gear, as well as all other necessary student supplies, will be issued by the school for use during the year. Any damaged or destroyed items will be charged to the students account to be paid in full by the end of each semester.
A supplies deposit of $360 will cover all incidental supplies purchased through the school during the year. $20 from this amount will be issued to each student every other week for use in the FMA Store and Laundry. The students will have access to the FMA Store every Saturday in order to purchase desired items, including school supplies, batteries, stamps, toiletries, film, and snacks. Students will do their laundry on campus each week. Any money remaining from the original $360 supplies deposit at the end of the year will be applied to the students account or refunded.
